Rant: Tesco Carrier Bags

It's real commendable of Tesco to offer club card points to people who recylce their carrier bags. A great move which shows genuine concern for the environment - except, my online shop just turned up in 25 bags. 25 bags !!! In one bag there was a single tin of mushy peas.
After two weeks of this, I feel totally overwhelmed by carrier bags.

I find the topic of Carrier Bags interesting. I agree that in some stores the use of carrier bags is so liberal that it is disturbing. Some of the cheaper supermarkets here in Spain charge the customer 2€ for each bag which is very expensive when you think that an average weekly shopping trip will use 4 bags. Another 8€ on top of your bill equating to 5 pounds approximately. The point is that it has educated us to take our own carrier bags and made us more aware of the excessive use of bags in the other stores, not just by the customer but by the store itself!

Wow that's quite a steep charge for a carrier bag. That would certainly make me think twice about how many bags I used but I wonder how it would work with internet shopping - On that basis I would have been charged an extra 50 euros for my last shop.

Did you know that Tesco will take your used carrier bags and re-cycle them? Just hand to the driver on his next visit or take them with you.

No I didnt know that. What do they do with them, do you know? I will hand over my 40 or so carrier bags when the driver next comes on Saturday.
